The grid reference given for this mine [GAT SMR: 21832] puts it very close (.2 km) to Moel Mochowgryn. However, it is possible that the name Llan y Cil should refer to Fron Feuno which is close (about .5 km) to Llan y Cil church to the south-west of Bala town.

Clarke, Llanecil [sic.] mines, paid £27 4s 3d (£27.21) royalty on manganese in 1823 and £19 7s 0d (£19.35) in 1824 [PRO LRRO3/87].

There is a further mention of manganese mining at Llanecil in 1924 [PRO CRES: 25/29 11117]. (12 February 1824)
