Remains | Mostly overgrown with trees. There appears to have been a significant build-up in ground level which has almost closed-off some of the entrances. The down-dip entrances in the outcrop have rubbish and standing water in them and some entrances look unsafe. Low adit leading to stoped area. Possible building foundation or ore dressing platform. Two pieces of bridge rail have been driven vertically into the ground in line with one of the entrances (possibly an anchor for a windlass). (August 2002) |
Ore bed described as being .3–.36 m thick and having a dip of 15–20°. Workings were inclines driven down-dip from which stoping was carried out. The mine was just above lake level and “heavy” pumping was required. The mine was described as “active” in 1923. [Dewey & Dines 1923: 65]
At the south-west end of the outcrop is an adit along the strike with working up and down dip.
The track from near the adit mouth to the base of the outcrop is built up on a substantial dry-stone causeway.
